Orthopaedic Associates Welcomes Board-Certified Physician Dr. Heather L. Grothe, MD

The team at Orthopaedic Associates is continually growing and expanding our excellence with the goal of keeping our communities moving by providing them a better move for motion. The addition of Dr. Heather L. Grothe to our team puts us another step forward towards this goal. 

Dr. Grothe is board-certified in sports medicine and family medicine, specializing in the treatment of sports injuries, arthritis, and musculoskeletal conditions using diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided injections. Dr. Grothe earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed her family medicine residency at St. John’s Hospital at the University of Minnesota. She pursued further specialization with a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado.

“The most fulfilling aspect of what I do is getting to know my patients, helping them overcome injuries, successfully treating their condition, and ultimately helping them get back to doing what they love,” said Dr. Grothe.

Dr. Grothe’s extensive experience includes serving as team physician for NCAA Division I athletes, most recently for the University of Minnesota, Duluth. In 2023 she served as the Medical Director for the Women’s Frozen Four.

Dr. Grothe will be seeing patients in our Duluth clinic as well as our Rock Ridge clinic in Virginia, MN.
