Same-Day Orthopaedic Care in Duluth, MN
with a Physician Available 24 Hours a Day
When a bone breaks, a joint gives out, or a ligament tears, waiting a week for an appointment is not a realistic option. Orthopaedic Associates of Duluth keeps appointments available for patients who need to be seen quickly, often the same day or within 48 hours of your call.
You reach an orthopaedic specialist from the start. Not a general urgent care provider who will evaluate you and refer you elsewhere, but a physician trained specifically in musculoskeletal injuries who can diagnose the problem, order imaging on-site, and begin planning your treatment in a single visit.
Same-Day and 48-Hour Orthopaedic Appointments
Our care team and fully equipped Duluth clinic allow us to schedule orthopaedic appointments, often the same day or within 48 hours of your call. On-site MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound imaging are available at our main Duluth office, which means your physician can assess the injury, review imaging, and discuss findings with you without sending you to a separate imaging facility or asking you to return another day.
To request a same-day or urgent appointment, call us directly at 218-722-5513. Our team will assess your situation and get you scheduled as quickly as possible.
24-Hour Orthopaedic Coverage, Including Weekends and Holidays
One of our physicians is available for hospital and emergency orthopaedic care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. This coverage ensures that patients with acute orthopaedic injuries who require hospital-level care can reach a specialist at any hour.
For after-hours and emergency orthopaedic care, call our main office number at 218-722-5513.
What Happens at a Same-Day Orthopaedic Visit
Step 1:
Physician Evaluation
You are seen by an orthopaedic physician or board-certified surgeon, supported by our physician assistants. Your evaluation focuses on identifying the specific injury or condition causing your symptoms.
Step 2:
On-Site Imaging When Needed
MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound imaging are available in-house at our Duluth clinic. If your physician needs imaging to confirm a diagnosis, it can happen the same day without an additional referral or appointment elsewhere.
Step 3:
Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
Once your physician has a clear picture of the problem, they will explain the diagnosis and lay out your treatment options. Depending on the injury, this may include non-surgical management, physical or occupational therapy, or a referral to one of our surgeons for further evaluation.
Step 4:
Coordination with Our Therapy Team
When rehabilitation is the right next step, our in-house physical and occupational therapists work directly with your physician. Your care does not stop at the diagnosis.
Injuries and Conditions We Evaluate on Short Notice
Our physicians see patients with acute injuries and conditions that require prompt orthopaedic evaluation but do not require an emergency room visit. Common reasons patients call us for same-day care include:
- Fractures and acute bone injuries
- Sports-related ligament and tendon tears, including ACL, MCL, PCL, PLC and rotator cuff injuries
- Joint dislocations, including shoulder, knee, and finger
- Acute knee injuries, including meniscus tears and ligament sprains
- Work-related hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries
- Sudden or significantly worsening joint pain limiting movement
- Foot and ankle injuries from sports, falls, or accidents
- Trauma requiring orthopaedic evaluation before or after an ER visit
If you are unsure whether your situation requires an emergency room or an orthopaedic evaluation, call us. Our team can help you determine the right next step.
