Orthopedic Associates of Duluth, PA is currently seeking a CMA to join our growing practice in our new Clinic in Hibbing, MN. Enjoy working with a variety of Orthopedic Sub-Specialties to include General Ortho, Foot & Ankle, Hand, Total Joints, and Sports Medicine. The CMA performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to assist health care professionals, to keep the health care continuum running smoothly. Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Requires HS diploma and formal training in a Certified Medical Assist (or CNA, LPN) program
Requires National Certification from the AAMA or other certifying agency
Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, medical records and Electronic Medical Records software
Requires ability to deal with interruptions and unrelated details while maintaining patient flow
Requires at least one year of actual Medical Clinic Experience, (Orthopaedics preferred)
Ability to put patients at ease and explain physicians’ instructions
Experience: One year of Clinic experience to include casting/bracing experience (preferred); including clinical rotations within the certification program.
Comply with the working and physical requirements that require a full range of body motion including, but not limited to, stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling. This position requires lifting as much as 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
Assist the physicians and physician assistants with patient care in the exam rooms
Greet and assist patients from the waiting area to the exam room
Answer general questions from patients with a high degree of customer service
Update patient information with the EMR
Schedule X-rays/MRIs as directed by physician
Arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services
Build strong relationships with patients and their families
Properly sort paperwork and distribute to the correct departments
Clean/sterilize and stock exam rooms
Inventory/restock supplies in the supply room
Take Vitals and enter information into the EMR
Assist physicians by entering information into the EMR
Draw and set up injections
Position patients and prep area to be injected
Remove Bandages, Sutures and Staples and apply Steri-Strips as directed by physician
Apply sterile dressings as needed
Dispose of contaminated supplies
Sterilize medical instruments
Fit Patient for Various Supplies (i.e. Cast Boots, Slings and Braces)
Apply, adjust and remove casts and other orthopedic devices as directed by a physician
Assist other departments with approved tasks when asked, and as workflow allows
Assist with general office-wide tasks
